2020 Artist's Angel Award
Four VVAA members, Amy Wells, Norma Sachar, Rita Fulmer and Jean Battaglia (pictured below, middle picture) were nominated for the 2020 Artist’s Angel Award. The award is given to one volunteer who has gone above and beyond to promote our Mission and who has worked hard to help all of our members.
Amy Wells joined VVAA in 2019 and since that time has helped with front desk duties, coordinating the Artist of the Month (AOM) program, and placing art in the outside venues. Amy “is always positive and upbeat and willing to help.”
Norma Sachar is the VVAA Facebook editor and graphics designer for the VVAA blog, “Staying Connected” in the Virgin Valley. Norma is a tireless promoter for VVAA. “Norma has successfully run her own real estate business in Mesquite for years. She understands marketing and good communication. She is an unassuming, knowledgeable volunteer to the VVAA who devotes much of her time and demands no recognition.”
Rita Fulmer has worked tirelessly on the hanging committee for 8 years. She helps all artists in making sure their work is displayed with success. “Rita has a good eye and quickness in solving hanging problems. She taught her crew of workers to handle and hang each piece of art like it was their own- with loads of care.”
“Jean Battaglia is a true worker bee. She is always ready to pick up the slack when needed in a moment’s notice. She observes what is needed and then jumps in to help. I have witnessed her working the front desk in the afternoon that a reception is about to occur and volunteer many times to stay to cover the front desk that evening.”
The winner of this year’s Artist’s Angel Award is Norma Sachar (pictured on the left). Congratulations to Norma and all those VVAA members who were nominated.
Also pictured on the far right is Sandy Cooper. Sandy was nominated but was ineligible as she was serving this year on the Board of Directors and was the VVAA Recording Secretary. Sandy also is the editor of our monthly newsletter. The committee felt she should also be honored and proceeded to give her the "Queen for the Day" award.
