"Learn How to Sculpt With Clay Coils"

Kathleen Birkholz will be leading a two-day pottery workshop on November 15 & 16, from 2 pm to 6 pm in the Pottery Studio. 

Attendees will learn the basics of pottery sculpture using clay coils.

Please bring moist clay, tools, wire or cutter tools and a hardboard surface to build on.  A handout of Elephant pictures will be provided, or bring your own.  This is a beginner sculpture class.

Saggar Firing Workshop


January 11,12, 19 & 24* (firing date may change), $75, limited to 4 students.  Must have clay experience.  Sign up will be up mid-December inside the pottery studio.  You will learn to build a Saggar container and make and burnish a pottery piece for firing.  Firing will be done offsite.

Saggar Firing is a surface alteration process and is not safe for food.  More information on sign up sheet as to class supplies.

Raku Firing Classes

Kathleen Birkholz will be leading two separate Raku Firing Classes.  These are two-day classes.  The first day you will learn about Raku firings and glazes as well as glaze your bisque fired piece.  The second day will be at the Birkholz's home where you will fire your piece and proceed through the rest of the process.

The first session will be November 18 and 20.  The class will be repeated on December 2 and 4.  Cost is $45 with glazes and firing provided.

Bring to class a piece of bisque fired pottery that has med grog in the clay, your own glaze brushes, optional are sponges, latex gloves, apron, flexible ruler.  Any questions, please contact Kathleen at 702-443-4878.

Raku Firings

Ceramic Underglaze Workshop

This workshop is cancelled for this date.  Kelly is working on setting up a new date after the first of the year.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Kelly Beeson will be teaching the students how to create using ceramic underglazes and detailed transfer applications in this Workshop on Thursday, December 16, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Workshop will be in the Pottery Studio.  Cost is $30.  You must sign up in the studio.  No prepayment is required.

Supplies needed:  Pottery Tools and White Clay rolled to a 12" diameter.  Forms and underglaze transfers as well as extra underglazes will be provided.

Participants need to sign up inside the Pottery Studio.

A NEW policy has been adopted and we ask that you pay a $20 deposit when you sign up.

The volunteer on duty at the studio will help with that.
