AWARDS NIGHT RECEPTION - FRIDAY, MARCH 12TH, 6-8 PM LIGHT REFRESHMENTS

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists who reside in NV, AZ, or UT full or part time.  Original 2-d not larger than 48x48”, and must have a weight of less than 30lbs., have a wire hanger, and be suitably framed.  All 3-d art must have a weight of less than 100lbs, have a base provided by the artist, when needed, and be able to fit through standard or double doors.  All artwork must be original and not violate US copyright laws.  All work must be recent (LESS THAN 2 YEARS) and not shown in a previous VVAA event.  The VVAA and the City of Mesquite reserve the right to determine suitability regarding presentation, set and contextual appropriateness of the art.

ENTRY FOR ART BY POETRY:  Poems are limited to 25 lines or less.  From the list of poetry, choose and sign out one poem for each artwork piece.  No duplications of poems allowed.

ENTRY PROCEDURE FOR ARTWORK AND POETRY:  ALL ENTRIES WILL BE RECEIVED AT THE Mesquite Fine Arts Center & Gallery beginning Tuesday February 23rd through the week and ending on Friday, February 26th. Business hours are 10am to 4pm, Mon - Fri.  Entry form must be signed by the artist indicating agreement to the terms stated.  Each entry MUST have a legible and completed label attached to the back or underside of the artwork.  All artwork will be “for sale” with a 65/35% split to the artist and the VVAA respectively, no exceptions.  Poems need not be for sale to the public. 

ENTRY FEE:  Make check or money order payable to:  VVAA (Virgin Valley Artists Association)

ENTRY FEE:  $ 15 per piece and maximum 4 entries.  Poetry Fee of $ 5 per poet will allow each poet to submit as many entries as they choose. All entry fees are non-refundable.

PICK UP OF ARTWORK:  The artist is responsible for all shipping costs to and from the exhibit.  Return postage must accompany entry.  Entries must remain in the exhibit throughout the show, ending on May 1st.  This includes works sold during the exhibit; arrangements will be made with the buyer.  Pick up date begins on Saturday, May 1 after 3 pm.  The City of Mesquite and the Virgin Valley Artists Association will not be liable for any damage or loss of artwork, or part thereof, during receiving, handling, exhibiting, judging, shipment or storage of art.

CATEGORIES AND AWARDS:   The following media will be accepted: watercolor, oil, acrylic, dry, mixed, photography, sculpture and pottery. Cash prizes of $100. for Best Of Show, judged in categories of, “ART BY  POETRY” and “SPRING ART”(without poetry). The poem affiliated with the “Best of Art by Poetry” will also receive a $100. prize. Ribbon awards will be as follows: “BEST ART BY POETRY“, “BEST OF SPRING ART”, and for first, second, and third place in each category. People’s Choice Ribbons, from ballot tallies will be awarded in each category. Judges are not limited to the number of “honorable Mention” ribbons. Ribbons for poetry will correspond to ribbons for art in all “Art by Poetry” Categories.
